Why it matters
Parsva means "side." During Chaturmas, Lord Vishnu rests on the cosmic serpent Shesha. On Devshayani Ekadashi, he lies down. On Parsva Ekadashi, he turns to his left side. On Prabodhini Ekadashi, he awakens. This Ekadashi marks the midpoint of the four-month cosmic sleep. It is also associated with Vamana avatar as it falls in Bhadrapada.
How it is observed
Vishnu puja with lotus flowers, reading Vamana Purana, night vigil
Fasting
Ekadashi fast
